The Center for Sustainable Polymers generates value-added products such as polymer-infused concrete and foams from coconut processing by-products, and nutraceutical and biomedical products from fish processing by-products.

The Smart Water Infrastructure and Management (SWIM) R&D Center provides innovations in water management and promotes disaster-resilient infrastructures.

E-Mobility Research and Development Center | NICER

The Center will design, develop, fabricate and assemble e-Trike that could be adapted in the region and COVID responsive, cost and energy efficient.

Renewable Energy R&D Center | NICER

Led by Ateneo de Davao University

The Center will pursue thematic societal research on appropriate and sustainable energy systems to reinforce energy policy and utilization and commercialization of technologies. The R&D components will focus on the development of solar thermal and ocean/hydrokinetic technologies.

The Center for Lakes Sustainable Development develops solutions and strategies for the effective management and sustainability of lakes.

Center for Environmental Technologies and Compliance | NICER

Led by Polytechnic University of the Philippines in collaboration with Adamson University, AdU, University of the Philippines – Diliman Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering


The Center for Environmental Technologies and Compliance provides innovations in environmental technologies and supports the local industries comply with the environmental standards.

Coastal Engineering Research Center | NICER

Led by Mariano Marcos State University in collaboration with Don Mariano Marcos University and University of the Philippines – Diliman Marine Science Institute


The Coastal Engineering R&D (CoastER) Center mitigates coastal disasters and develops strategies for coastal protection and climate change mitigation.

Center for Advanced Materials for Clean Energy Technologies using Indigenous Material (CAMCET) | NICER

Led by University of Santo Tomas in collaboration with  Mapúa University


The center will explore the use of indigenous materials for fuel cell and energy storage applications

Center for Advanced Batteries | NICER

Led by Technological Institute of the Philippines in collaboration with University of the Philippines – Diliman


The Center will develop advanced batteries for renewable energy and electric car applications.

Environmental Informatics R&D Center | NICER

Led by University of the Philippines – Cebu


The center intends to contribute to the growth of the Agri-fisheries and Environment and Natural Resources sectors through research and development of sensor systems and decision support systems for agricultural and natural resources management, crop health assessment, pest/disease monitoring, risk assessment and hazard modeling.

Center for Astronomy R&D | NICER

Led by Rizal Technological University


The center will provide the facility to harness knowledge about space science and technologies. The R&D components of this center will utilize near-earth observation method to study the uncategorized type of pollution that our country has been exposed for several years, light pollution.
